Calming Nervine Infusion: Soothe and Smooth
How does a dysregulated nervous system show up in our body?
When the sympathetic nervous system (responsible for fight, flight, fawn, freeze responses) is overstimulated, achieving…
restfulness,
calm + healthy responses,
balanced mind, mood + weight,
healthy libido,
clear skin,
regular periods,
proper digestion, and assimilation of nutrients
becomes challenged.
A dysregulated nervous system can manifest in various bodily symptoms. Therefore, regardless of where you are in your healing journey, remember to regularly check in with your body, mind, and spirit.
By doing so, we gain insight into how they are interconnected and how imbalances within them can lead to discomfort + dis-ease.
Likewise, awareness of or witnessing how one responds to situations, including stressors, can also provide valuable insight into the state of the nervous system.
Focusing on restoring, regenerating, and regulating the nervous system, this blend offers holistic support. The herbs in this hot infusion recipe are renowned as nervine sedatives or relaxants, offering gentle relief for the nervous system. Their potency lies in their subtlety; they can be enjoyed throughout the day without inducing sleepiness or lethargy. Additionally, many of these herbs possess carminative and bitter properties, aiding digestion. Think of them as herbs that help "smooth out the rough edges" and gently soothe an overactive nervous system.

Here’s the recipe for this nervine hot infusion:
> 1 tablespoon of each dried herb: mugwort, catnip, lemon balm
> 3 cups of hot water
> Cover to infuse for 20 mins.
To use: I drink the entire 3 cups. Then, later in the day, I reinfuse the same batch using half the water. Infuse for another 20 mins. This gives me about 4 cups a day. I try to drink this daily if possible or in rotation with other herbal remedies!
