Natural Stain Remover Spray: Hydrogen Peroxide and Castile Soap Recipe

This combination leverages the natural cleaning power of two ingredients to provide an effective, non-toxic solution for maintaining clean and fresh fabrics and linens.

By harnessing the power of these two simple ingredients, you can achieve a cleaner, greener laundry routine.

Castile Soap:

  • Chemical Composition: Castile soap is a plant-based soap traditionally made from olive oil, though other vegetable oils like coconut, hemp, or jojoba can also be used. It’s biodegradable and free from synthetic detergents.

  • Natural Soap Properties: The saponification process (where oils react with an alkali) creates a soap that effectively emulsifies and lifts dirt, grease, and grime.

  • Stain Removal: Castile soap’s natural surfactant properties help to loosen and lift stains from fabric fibers, allowing them to be washed away more easily.

  • Eliminating Grime and Dirt: Its gentle, yet effective cleaning action ensures that dirt and grime are broken down and removed from fabrics and surfaces without damaging them.

Hydrogen Peroxide:

  • Chemical Composition: Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) is a compound made up of hydrogen and oxygen. It is a weak acid with strong oxidizing properties.

  • Natural Bleaching: When hydrogen peroxide comes into contact with organic stains, it releases oxygen. This oxidative action breaks down the chemical bonds of the stains, effectively bleaching and removing them without harsh chemicals.

  • Stain Removal: The oxidizing power of hydrogen peroxide not only bleaches but also breaks down and lifts organic stains like wine, blood, and coffee from fabrics.

Combined, you can effectively:

  • Naturally bleach fabrics: Brighten whites without harsh chemicals.

  • Remove stubborn stains: Lift and dissolve tough stains from clothing and linens.

  • Eliminate grime and dirt: Clean and refresh your laundry with ease.

1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide

4 tbsp liquid castle soap

20 drops lemon essential oils, optional
