Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Hibiscus
In a small glass container, add 1 tablespoon hibiscus powder.
Step 2: Heat the Aloe Vera Gel
In a separate glass jar, gently warm 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel to around 100°F (just warm enough to blend easily but not hot).
You can do this by placing the jar in a warm water bath. Use a thermometer to check the temperature and avoid overheating.
Step 3: Combine Aloe Vera and Herb
Once the aloe vera gel reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the heat.
Slowly stir the hibiscus into the warm aloe vera gel, ensuring everything is thoroughly combined.
Allow to infuse for at leaset 24-48 hours. For more potent results, infuse for a week. Stir occasionally to enhance extraction.
Step 4: Strain the Mixture
After letting the hibiscus macerate in the aloe vera gel, use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the hibiscus. This will ensure you have a smooth, clean aloe vera base without the presence of solids. If you're using a cheesecloth, gently press the mixture to extract as much of the infused aloe vera gel as possible while discarding the solid remnants.
Step 5: Storage
Transfer the mixture into a sterilized, airtight glass container.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks to maintain freshness, as this is a water-based mixture prone to spoilage.
Usage:
Shake the mixture thoroughly before each application to blend the ingredients temporarily.
Apply a small amount to clean skin, gently massaging it in upward strokes.
