Clear Skin Elixir: Tea-Infused Aloe Vera Ice Cubes
If you found my recent recipe of herbal-infused aloe vera ice cubes a bit complex, don't worry—I've crafted a simpler recipe that still delivers the benefits of medicinal herbs with soothing aloe vera in convenient ice cube form. This recipe was inspired by my son, who's dealing with hormonal acne.
We're addressing this issue both topically and internally. First by recognizing that excess oil and trapped dirt may be clogging his pores, much like the excess hormones affecting his liver. So, we're starting with an infusion of two powerful antibacterial + detoxing herbs, combining them with aloe vera in a simple way, and freezing them into ice cubes. The cooling sensation works wonders to calm any redness and inflammation that acne can bring, while the aloe vera temporarily opens up the skin barrier, allowing the herbal goodness to penetrate even deeper. Additionally, it helps reduce scarring and discoloration, balances pH levels, and tightens pores.
This is working great for us because once he applies it, he's done; there's no need to rinse it off as it provides an antibacterial barrier to protect the skin from further dirt.
Internally, we're incorporating hot infusions and tinctures whenever possible—although convincing him to take them is a bigger challenge than making this recipe, let me tell you!

Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon burdock root
1 tablespoon wild thyme
3 cups hot water
1 teaspoon honey
4 ounces aloe vera gel
Instructions:
In a heatproof container, combine burdock root, wild thyme, and hot water.
Stir in honey until dissolved.
Cover and let the herbs steep in the hot water until cooled or overnight for a very strong infusion.
Once steeping is complete, strain out the herbs and reserve the strong herbal infusion.
In a large measuring cup, combine 2 ounces of the herbal tea infusion with 4 ounces of aloe vera gel.
Stir the mixture until well combined.
Pour the mixture into each opening of an ice cube tray.
Place the ice cube tray in the freezer and let it freeze for a few hours until the clear skin elixir aloe cubes are solid.
Once frozen, remove the cubes from the tray and store them in a freezer-safe container.
To use: Glide a clear skin elixir aloe cube over your skin, after misting and before you apply your serum or moisturizer for a refreshing and soothing effect. Another option is to skip your morning cleanse and splash your face with cool water and follow up with an aloe cube!
