Glowing Skin and Better Health with This Simple Irish Sea Moss Gel Recipe

Here’s a new herb for you—and for me, too! Honestly, this is my first time using it.

In Ayurvedic texts, it’s listed as a common herb. I immediately knew I had to start incorporating it into my family’s diet.

It’s a type of seaweed or algae, known for being a nutritive tonic + ultra hydrating that helps address deficiencies like dry conditions. For instance, old age, cough, enlarged glands, convalescence, debility, dry and wrinkled skin.

It rejuvenates the body by restoring essential fluids and enriching them with over 90 essential minerals that the body needs.

It’s also fantastic for external use, supporting skin health, especially dry skin.

Making Irish Sea Moss gel using a blender is simple. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of dried Irish sea moss

  • 2–3 cups of water (for soaking)

  • Fresh water (for blending)

Instructions:

  1. Clean the Sea Moss: Rinse the dried sea moss thoroughly under cold water to remove any debris, sand, or salt. You may need to do this a few times to ensure it’s fully clean.

  2. Soak the Sea Moss: Place the cleaned sea moss in a large bowl and cover it with 2–3 cups of clean water. Let it soak for 12–24 hours. The sea moss will expand and soften, becoming more gelatinous.

  3. Drain and Blend: After soaking, drain the water and transfer the sea moss to a blender. Add fresh water to the blender—start with about 1 cup of water and adjust depending on the consistency you prefer.

  4. Blend: Blend on high for 1–2 minutes until the sea moss turns into a smooth, creamy gel. You can add more water if necessary to achieve the desired texture.

  5. Store: Pour the sea moss gel into a clean, airtight container, label, and store it in the refrigerator. It will last for about 3–4 weeks.

How is it used?

Once you’ve turned your sea moss into a gel-like substance, it can be easily added to a variety of recipes for a nutrient boost:

  1. Smoothies and juices—it blends effortlessly!

  2. Soups, broths, sauces, and stews—use it as a thickening agent.

  3. Desserts—it works the same way.

  4. Teas and hot beverages—it dissolves well.

  5. Or simply take a spoonful daily for a direct nutrient boost.

  6. Skincare face mask—stay tuned on this! I will definitely be applying it on my face soon! Let me know if you will too!
