Homemade Apple Sauce
With autumn in full swing and the crisp air calling for warm, comforting meals, today is the perfect day to make some homemade apple sauce using the apples we picked at our local orchard. Not only is it a delicious and healthy treat, but incorporating activities like this into our remote learning/homeschooling routine adds an element of fun and hands-on learning. Here is how we made our homemade apple sauce:
Ingredients
4 apples
1/2 tablespoons of each: cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamon
2 tablespoons of sage tea or plain distilled water
1 tablespoon of honey
1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
Directions
Wash apples and remove skin (or not). Cut apples into big chucks. Scoop up and add to large stew pot. Pour in tea or water and stir. Heat on low until apples are soft. When ready, measure and add in the rest of the ingredients. Mix to combine, and transfer to a food processor. Blitz until creamy. Transfer in a glass jar with lid. Refrigerate to serve cold in the next few days or freeze to preserve. If freezing, use a glass jar with no shoulder and add to your freezer without tightening the lid. Once frozen, seal lid and enjoy at your leisure. 💫
