My bathroom sink is a hub for herbal oils.

From cleansing oil to infused aloe vera gel to a salve and a few hydrosols in-between, my nightly skincare routine of 7-9 steps can leave quite a buildup. And, somewhere in the middle of all this is a ritual I cherish: filling the sink with warm water, soaking a washcloth, and indulging in a luxurious steam treatment for my face. It’s a moment of pure bliss.

Yes, this skincare routine might seem excessive, but trust me, it only take a few minutes, and it has a serious ripple effect on my skin health and overall well-being.

And, cleaning my sink echoes the same sentiment.

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of washing soda

1/2 cup of baking soda

2 teaspoons of citric acid

1/2 cup of dried herb (I like dried wild thyme, rosemary, and peppermint)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a jar or bowl, and seal or transfer into a sealable jar.

To use: Sprinkle on surface, add a bit of water, and scrub with a compostable brush or rag. If the porcelain sink or tub is extra grimy, let sit for up to 10 minutes. Then, scrub, rinse, and wipe clean.
