Herbal-Aloe Vera Ice Cube Cryofacial: A Natural Morning Boost for Radiant Skin

A cryofacial harnesses the coldness to soothe redness, revitalize the skin, promote collagen production, and even out skin tone.

IMO, this is better than that.

Using an herbal “ice” cube infused with aloe and herbs as part of your morning skincare routine can provide benefits similar to a cryofacial, but with added advantages due to the properties of the herbs and aloe.

Here’s how my formulated DIY approach enhances any morning skincare routine:

1. Cooling and Soothing Effect

  • How It Works: Like a traditional cryofacial, applying an herbal ice cube to your face will constrict blood vessels, reduce puffiness, and tighten the skin. The cold treatment increases blood flow to the face, which can enhance oxygen and nutrient delivery to the skin, leading to a brighter, more glowing complexion. The cooling effect of the ice also helps to wake you up and reduce any morning swelling, especially around the eyes.

  • Added Benefit: Aloe vera has natural soothing properties that can calm irritated skin, making the ice cube even more effective for reducing redness and inflammation.

2. Enhanced Hydration

  • How It Works: Aloe vera is known for its hydrating properties. When frozen into an ice cube, it can help to lock in moisture as it melts into your skin, providing a refreshing layer of hydration.

  • Added Benefit: The aloe will leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated, which is particularly beneficial if you have dry or dehydrated skin.

3. Herbal Benefits

  • How It Works: Depending on the herbs you infuse, the ice cube can deliver a range of additional benefits. For example:

    • Lavender: Provides anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic effects, balances oil production, increases blow flow, and stimulates the growth of new skin cells. It also helps calm stressed skin.

    • Rosemary: Offers powerful antioxidant protection, helps improve circulation, and can aid in estoring elasticity. Perfect for dull, lifeless, oily, or acne-prone skin, its antibacterial properties.

    • Sage: Rich in antioxidants, astringent, and antibacterial qualities, sage is great for oily skin and for wrinkled, sagging complexions. It cleanses, stimulates blood circulation, closes pores, and restores elasticity.

    • Wild Thyme: Contains natural antibacterial and antiseptic properties that cleanse, heal and soothe inflamed skin. It’s also useful for deep skin cleansing.

  • Added Benefit: The herbs infuse the ice with their specific properties, allowing you to tailor the treatment to your skin’s needs each morning.

4. Stimulates the Lymphatic System

  • How It Works: The cold temperature from the herbal ice cube stimulates the lymphatic system by causing vasoconstriction and subsequent vasodilation, which helps to move lymphatic fluid more effectively. This process reduces puffiness, particularly around the eyes, and promotes detoxification by removing toxins from the skin.

  • Added Benefit: Improved lymphatic flow can lead to reduced inflammation, decreased puffiness, and a clearer, more radiant complexion, making it an excellent addition to your morning routine.

6. Customizable

  • Customize: Your herbal ice cube can be made with the herbs you choose based on your skin type and concerns, giving you control over what you’re putting on your skin and ensuring that you get the most benefit from your morning routine. Or, you can use my recipe below!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce of dried herbs: Lavender, Sage, Rosemary, and Wild Thyme. Each herb should be dried and ground to ensure the maximum release of beneficial compounds.

  • 8 ounces of aloe vera gel

  • 95% ABV of organic alcohol

Infusion Process:

  • Combine 1 ounce of ground herbs in a jar. Add 1/2 ounce of 95% ABV of alcohol. Mix well, seal, and let steep for 8-24 hours. When ready, add Aloe Vera Gel to jar and stir thoroughly to combine. Cap, label, and place in refrigerator for a least 4 weeks, allowing their soluble compounds to meld seamlessly.

Straining:

  • Once the herbs have fully infused their essence into the aloe vera gel, the mixture is meticulously strained. We use a fine mesh to ensure that only the smoothest gel, rich with the essence of the herbs, is retrieved.

Freezing:

  • The final mixture is poured into ice cube trays, transforming the nutrient-rich aloe vera gel into convenient, single-use cubes. These are then frozen to create a refreshing, easy-to-use skincare product that calms, cools, and nourishes your skin with every application.

Usage:

  • Simply take a cube and allow it to melt slightly before application. Glide it over your skin, enjoying the cooling sensation as the active ingredients work to soothe, heal, and rejuvenate your complexion. Save what you don’t use for tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. You definitely won’t need an entire ice cube no matter how small you make them! This routine not only revitalizes the skin but also enhances its natural barrier, promoting a healthy, glowing complexion.
