Transform Your Beauty Routine: DIY Lip Balm That Doubles as Blush & Eyeshadow
One of the easiest and most useful products to make at home is lip balm—but not just any lip balm!
When I create my own products, my mission is always to keep things simple, non-toxic, nourishing, and low-waste. I believe that beauty should be both effective and gentle, not only for your skin but also for our planet. By choosing natural ingredients and sustainable practices, I strive to craft products that you can trust and feel good about using every day. Creating my own products allows me to connect deeply with the ingredients I use, ensuring each one is chosen with love and intention. Simplicity in formulation means fewer ingredients, making it easier to know exactly what’s nourishing your skin. It’s a heartfelt journey of creating beauty that’s pure, purposeful, and kind to all.
Imagine a tinted lip balm that doubles as eyeshadow and blush, all in one convenient product. Once you gather all the ingredients (plus any essential oils you love), you can whip up this recipe multiple times. This means saving money, reducing consumption, cutting down on waste, and avoiding plastic packaging!
This recipe makes about 3 ounces of balm, which you can pour into metal tins, glass jars, or cardboard pull-up tubes. That’s a lot of versatile balm! The secret ingredient that makes this all-natural and healthy makeup must-have is organic hibiscus powder.

What You'll Need:
2 tablespoons Herbal-Infused Oil or Coconut Oil
2 tablespoons butter of your choice like: cocoa, shea, or mango. I used Beurre de Karité (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter)
2 tablespoons Beeswax Pellets
23 drops Essential Oil (see blend options below)
2 tablespoons Organic Hibiscus Powder (for natural color)
How to Make Your Tinted Lip Balm:
Prepare Your Workspace:
Ensure all your tools and containers are clean and dry.
Gather your ingredients and tools for easy access.
Prepare your essential oil blend beforehand so you can add it quickly to the balm before it starts to harden.
Melt the Base Ingredients:
In a double boiler, combine 2 tablespoons of herbal-infused oil or coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of butter of your choice, and 2 tablespoons of beeswax pellets.
Gently heat over medium heat until everything is completely melted, stirring occasionally.
Add Essential Oils and Color:
Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly for about 2 minutes.
Add your chosen essential oil blend.
Stir in organic hibiscus powder for natural color. For a deeper tint, you can add a bit more hibiscus.
Mix Thoroughly:
Ensure all ingredients are well combined. The hibiscus powder should be evenly distributed, giving your balm a beautiful, natural hue.
Pour into Containers:
Carefully pour the melted mixture into your chosen containers—metal tins, glass jars, or cardboard pull-up tubes.
Leave a small space at the top to allow for expansion as the balm cools.
Let It Set:
Allow the balm to cool and solidify completely. This can take a few hours at room temperature or about 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Label and Store:
Label your containers with the blend name and date.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain the balm’s texture and fragrance.
